Trip: Outer Cape Cod

Meeting:Commuter parking lot, Rt 3 side of Sagamore Bridge, behind the Dunkin Donuts
Originally designed for maximum sparrow species observation,
this trip has produced an enormous variety of coast birds
and fall migrants including shearwaters, rails (including yellow!),
warblers, and some 18 species of sparrows.
Trip: Mid-Cape Cod Community Gardens

Trip: Cumberland Farm Fields-Middleborough/Halifax

Meeting:Gate to road into north end of fields on River Street, Halifax
At this time of year, sparrows and their allies are migrating.
The fields have been a haven for these little brown jobs
as well as Dickcissel, Indigo Bunting, and Blue Grosbeak.
Trip: Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area

Waterfowl migration will be well underway and the nooks and crannies
of Burrage Pond's waters should be full of ducks and geese.

Notes: Traditionally called the "Death March", the Race Point walk can be challenging,
but rewards may include alcids, loons, white-winged gulls, seals, and maybe a coconut.

Notes: Scan the rocky coastline for sea ducks, guillemots and maybe a puffin.
Trip: Scituate to Plymouth

Meeting:Stop & Shop parking lot, Route 139 at Route 3, Pembroke
Notes: A full day of exploring the thickets in Marshfield,
then the coast from Scituate south to Plymouth
to check out the ponds for wintering ducks,
then ending the day standing on Fox Hill at DWWS for owls.
70 species is possible and who's left at the end of the day can tally over dinner.
Trip: Southeastern MA

on Rt. 18 in Bridgewater Center
Notes: Farms, Fields, and Forests: Exploring Late Winter Bird Life-February weather is highly variable:
sometimes snowy, sometimes not; sometimes cold, sometimes mild.
We will investigate a variety of South Shore habitats
in an effort to see what species survived the winter,
along with seeking signs of the vanguard of spring of spring migration.
